His genius marked the XXth century and changed forever the course of the contemporary art.

For his part, since Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra published the novel Don Quijote of the Spot in 1605, no work has harvested so much success in the history of the universal literature. Throughout four centuries, the history of Don Quijote has been an inspiration source for the painting, the sculpture, the plastic arts, the literature, the philosophy, the movies, the theater and the television. In the plastic arts it was recreated innúmeras times, for artists like Daumier, Salvador Dalí, José Guadalupe Posada and Pablo Picasso.

The drawing of Picasso, Don Quijote, who at present is in the Art museum and History of Saint-Denis in Paris, is of course one of the representations on Quixotic more well-known. Picasso did the illustration for the magazine They Lettres Françaises, to order of the friend Pierre Daix, in August, 1955 to celebrate the anniversary of 350 years of the publication of the work. The drawing with simple line done in a few minutes for Picasso, is an evidence of the talent of the painter.
