Dele - Diplomas of Spanish as Foreign language

The Diplomas of Spanish as Foreign language (dele) are official, supporting qualifications of the grade of competition and mastery of the Spanish language, sent by the Department of Education of Spain. The diplomas are organized by the Institute Cervantes of Spain.

The Diplomas of Spanish as Foreign language (dele) are the only qualifications of the Science and Education Department of Spain of international ambience and they are recognized in the whole world by private enterprises, chambers of commerce and public and private systems of education.

These diplomas certify the level of domain reached by a candidate with independence where from and when it has realized his Spanish studies. The validity of the diplomas of Spanish is indefinite and it is not necessary to be examined again or confirms of no other way the competition acquired in Spanish.

The tests conducive to the securing of the diplomas of Spanish are independent examinations and the candidates can choose freely the level and the certification that they consider to be adapted for his preparation or for his interests. To choose at a certain level, it is not necessary to have overcome previously any other low level.

The Diplomas of Spanish as Foreign language (dele) are structured and are named according to the levels that they credit of the way that it continues:

  • Dele - Level A1 - credits the linguistic competition sufficient for comprehension and to use daily expressions of very frequent use in any place of the Spanish-speaking world, directed to satisfy immediate needs.
  • Dele - Level B1 (Initial) - credits the linguistic competition sufficient for comprehension and to react appropriately to the most habitual situations of the everyday life and to communicate desires and needs for basic form.
  • Dele - Level B2 (Interval) - credits the linguistic competition sufficient to be unrolled in the current situations of the everyday life, in normal circumstances of communication that do not need a specializing use of the language.
  • Dele - Level C2 (Superior) - credits the linguistic competition necessary to be unrolled in situations that need a high use of the language and a knowledge of the cultural habits that across her are evident.

There will be able to present themselves to the tests conducive to the securing of the diplomas of Spanish not only those candidates who are nationals of the states which official language is not the Spanish but also the nationals of the states which official language is Spanish, whenever they are resident in not Spanish-speaking countries, in the assumption of that two of the following conditions assemble at least:

  1. That Spanish is not the mother tongue of the father and of the mother of the candidate.
  2. That Spanish has not been the first language that he learned.
  3. That Spanish does not use as a language of habitual communication.
  4. That has not studied in Spanish the totality or a part of the primary or secondary education.

Dates of Examination

Year 2009

In 2009 there has been foreseen the achievement of three calls of examination, which will take place in May, August and November, and which will be of application in the conditions and in the places that are specified next:

  • Calls:
    • May, 2009:
      • On Friday, the 15th of May - Countries: All the countries except the reviewed ones below.
      • Term of inscription: from March 2 until April 24, both inclusive.
        Greece: from February 16 until March 31.
      • On Saturday, the 16th of May - Countries: Albania, Argentina, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Cyprus, Colombia, South Korea, Croatia, Cuba, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Slovenia, the United States, Estonia, Greece (except Patras), Haiti, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malta, Mexico, Poland (except Poznan), Serbia, Singapore, Switzerland (except It will Cogo), Thailand, Taiwan, Palestinian Territories, Uganda and Uruguay.
      • Term of inscription: from March 2 until April 24, both inclusive.
        Greece: from February 16 until March 31.
    • August, 2009:
      • On Friday, the 21st of August - Countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, South Korea, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Egypt, Spain, the United States (Albuquerque), India (Calcutta), Jamaica (Montego Bay), Japan (Tokyo), Malaysia, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Russia (Moscow) and Switzerland ¹.
      • Term of inscription: from July 13 until July 31, both inclusive.
    • November, 2009:
      • On Friday, the 13th of November - Countries: All the countries except the reviewed ones below.
      • Term of inscription: From September 1 until October 16, both inclusive.
      • On Saturday, the 14th of November - Countries: Albania, Argentina, Bolivia ¹, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil ¹, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Cyprus, Colombia, South Korea, Croatia, Cuba, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Slovenia, the United States, Estonia, Greece (except Patras), Equatorial Guinea, Haiti, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malta, Mexico, Namibia, Peru ¹, Poland (except Poznan), Serbia, Singapore, Switzerland (except It will Cogo), Thailand, Taiwan, Palestinian Territories, Uganda and Uruguay ¹.
      • Term of inscription: from September 1 until October 16, both inclusive.

¹ It is asked to consult with the centers of these countries on the availability of the tests.

The inscription for the tests must be proceeded across a center of examination credited inside the period established for every call.
